This prayer prepares the participant for the meditation to come, requesting the deities to assist in the performance of the ritual, and leads into Jampé Monlam, a prayer to the future Maitreya Buddha, asking for a rebirth in his time. It is used as part of the daily puja in the monastery, also particularly to request a good rebirth for a person who has died.
